Many of the first members of the kibbutz enjoyed reading. There were no televisions, internet, or smartphones, so one way to pass the time was to read books
Members' homes were small, and there was no room to store all of one’s books. In the spirit of kibbutz cooperation, the kibbutz decided to establish a central library.
The library itself moved from building to building until it reached its present location in a new building built in honor of founding member Don Tocker.
